Project Muso Launches Community Based Malaria Treatment Program

The beginning of September marked the launch of Project Muso’s Community Based Malaria Treatment Program. More than 400 community members, government partners and program participants gathered outside Yirimadjo’s new clinical care center this September 6 to celebrate the launch.  Speakers at the launch included the Mayor of Bamako’s Commune VI, the Mayor of Yirimadjo, the Regional Director of Health, the Regional Director of the Ministry of Women, Children and Families, the Physician Director of the Referral Hospital of Bamako’s Commune VI, and the Regional Director of the National Malaria Control Program.

The Community Based Malaria Treatment Program aims to work towards eliminating malaria death and illness in Yirimadjo. Through Community Health Worker outreach, a Solidarity Fund to provide free health care to the poor, and new infrastructure, the program works systematically, to unblock the key bottlenecks to early and effective malaria treatment. The program is designed not only to roll back malaria but also to strengthen the health system as a whole. Click here to learn more.
